Ryan’s youngest son, John, was born August 22, 2015. He was born nearly lifeless, after birth complications and an emergency C-section. Helpless and scared, Ryan rode in the ambulance alongside his son, as he was transferred from Providence Park in Novi to DMC Children’s Hospital of Michigan in Detroit.
During what was an unforeseen crisis, Ryan found himself miles from home and at the bedside of his son, all hours of the day and night. Ronald McDonald House of Detroit extended its doors and its heart. A short distance to the hospital, it provided a beautiful setting, including a private room, shuttle service, full service kitchen and meals. Not to mention, the friendly faces, and voices of hope and support from staff and other families facing the same fears.
After nearly two weeks, Ryan received a blessing that many families do not, he was able to leave the hospital with a healthy baby boy. Doctors called it a miracle and it truly was. Ryan and his family know how blessed they are and they thank God every day for their now healthy 7 month old son.
They are forever grateful to Children’s Hospital of Michigan and the Ronald McDonald House of Detroit for providing such amazing love and care during such a difficult time. In honor of John, and all the children being treated at Children’s Hospital, Junk Chief will be giving 5% of all profits to Ronald McDonald House of Detroit to support them in their continued mission to help and heal families.
